I got my approval email today, but my wife's online status remain unchanged received and pending. Does USCIS process dependent's application separately? Both mine and wife's application was sent the same day, FP notices were received at the same time..I mean everything was done at the same time except approval.
Any thoughts?

Your I-485 application could be nearing approval, as your priority date is current, and you are with in the USCIS processing time frame.

I was trying to open a brokerage account with Bank Of America (Merrill Lynch) which was denied as it does not recognize EAD.
The web site clearly says that you should be a citizen or a green card to open an account

But lets concentrate on one location in Texas and for that matter in
every state to pack more punch.
I think everyone can drive to one common location in texas.
Since Austin is capital, i propose rally in Austin for Texas.

Not trying to sound pessimistic� but I am tired of hearing about the so called SKIL bill without any sort of timeline attached to it. For all I care it seems to me that it might just lay dormant in the house for one, two or even five years without any consideration. Any one with more info should please throw more light.
With so much of steam building up around the SKIL bill, does the IV core team have any time line on when this will even be debated in the House? Is this on the plate for before or after the November elections?

fired shortly after becoming a citizen. I am from a country other than yours. Sorry about that. There is no particular website that represents immigration from the country I immigrated from.
The employer replaced me with a visa card holder. After I trained him, I was fired and my boss was fired.
I am a skilled programmer with advanced degree. Employers from the dice.com website refuse to even acknowledge my resumes. Being unemployed is no way to be a new citizen. So I am ready to give up searching and move to India,in search of programming work. All I want to do is write code. I do not desire to make a point or to annoy anyone, I just want to work and write source code and try to get on with my life.
What are my chances to find work with the giant IT corporations of India? I am ready to move today. Can I revoke my US citizenship and immigrate to your country??? Sorry sorry sorry if this offends anyone, I do not mean to annoy any of you. I just want to have a job and write code and I will be on my way.

This person talks about a "country other than yours". What does this person mean. And of course this person lost his/her job "because" he/she became a citizen. My 485 got approved 3 months back. Once the status showd "Card Production Ordered". Then changed to "Post Decission Activity". I received the Welcome lettter that i have been grnated permanent resident statusI called USCIS some 45 days back. They mentioned the card has been mailed and file another I-90 mentioning my card is lost. I told them i have not received it at all and asked why i need to spend money and file I-90 again when i did not receive it at all. They said file I-90, thats all. I took infopass appointment. The IO at infopass gave same answer. We mailed the card, its lost, we did not receive it back, file I-90.
I asked if my EAD is valid until i get the green card. The officer asked if he can see my EAD. I had both me and my wife's EADs in a cover and gave both to him. Once he took it, he said he cannot give it back. I asked what should i do now and how should i show my status/ work authorization. He said your only option is to file I-90. Come back after filing I-90 and submitting fingerprints, then we will stamp on your passport. I have been cornered.
I have never missed a single mail. When i mentioned same in the post office, they said its absurd when i receive all mails except the card and that something is wrong with the sender. USCIS is making some blunder in sending the cards and forcing people to spend money and go through the hassle of applying for a new one. They dont check any further information other than bluntly saying "We mailed it, we have not received it back". Such important documents should have a tracking number so that we know that they have actually mailed. There is no way to know if they really mailed it.

This is totally ludacris to me. Even though the bulletin expects movement going forward, there is no assurance that the dates will not go back. On the flip side, I am wondering if USCIS/DOS wanted to fully utilize the 140K visas this year and just moved the dates too much ahead. If thats the case, the dates might not move again or retrogress back further. DOS official Oppenheimer mentioned that atleast 10-11k were wasted last year. I still feel that the dates are going to go back some time sooner or later without congressional law changes.
This means that we have to stay put and work towards our common goal of getting the system fixed.

I agree, if you have applied for I-485, F1 is not a good idea. I wasn't aware of the OP's GC situation.
Editing post: It seems that the OP applied for I-140 late last year, and the country of chargeability is India (public profile). So, in this case, F1 is probably a better bet.

I sent 4 paystubs just like that. Thought of sending W-2 also but they are redundant Information - already gone with 140 app.
They wont deny your case for not sending W2 , in worst case they will ask
for it and you will just mail it immediatly ( keep them handy)

Yes, pending I-485 applicants can absolutely get FAFSA. I have received funding for my MBA at Haas and know many others who have received funding as well. If you need any information, send me a PM and I'll respond to your queries

At this stage they might have spend money on LCA only + for attorney fee if any.
Attorneys may charge the full fee upfront so they may have incurred full legal fee , minus H1 fees.
H1 Govt fee is payid by employer so they cannot ask that . but if they paid for attorney , then they may ask for it.
Your concern about a additional insert into the contract papers. Are the contract pages numbered? if so you are safe. if not :rolleyes:
Any money spent by the employer for employment related expenses are employer expenses. you are not liable for them. If they push, inform DoL. Employment in the US is At-Will. The only clause they can enforce is to prevent you from using any of the knowledge you acquired with them (non-compete contract). As you have not worked with them, you are not yet an employee, and there is no legal standing for them to come after you.
