It is a hard fact but I guess I do not want to scare anyone. If you notice some people have got their JuLY 2ND filed cases receipt # and most of them have a Notice date of 08/04/2007 (the guys who got their receipt #). This notice date is the day the Receipt was generated. So today is 08/13/2007. It seems that USCIS is delaying this process of issuing receipts as that will give them a chance to reject applications after 17th. So I guess we should brace ourselves for rejection notices also......
Keep your chin up, guys. You have to understand that there must have been a large number of applications arriving in the USCIS basket. Things will take time - so will the receipts. Do not lose hope.
Why worry about things for which you have no control on? You certainly can control your actions. Maybe contribute to IV in money, time etc PLUS also show up at the rally and sign up a bunch of your friends. Action is the only solution to Worry. :)

Today, John Cornyn, Senator from Texas, introduced in the Senate S. 2691, Securing Knowledge Innovation and Leadership (SKIL) bill, which is similar to the legal employment-based immigration bills incorporated in the comprehensive immigration reform bills of Senator Bill Frist and Senator Alen Specter. These legal employment-based immigration bills are similar to the Education bill named PACE Act which is still pending in the Senate.
Senator Cornyn strongly opposes the legalization of undocumented immigrants as opposed to the Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and most of the Senators in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The compromised comprehensive immigration reform proposal faced strong challenge from Senator Cornyn before the bill collapsed in the Senate during the Easter break. Cornyn-Kyl bill and McCain-Kennedy has engaged in a fierce duel in the Senate Judiciary Committee and in the full Senate. The collision was marked by the legalization of illegal immigrants that are incorporated in the McCain-Kennedy bill.
By introduction of S. 2691, Senator Cornyn practically joins the original Bill Frist bill that strongly supported legal immigration and strongly opposed legalization of illegal aliens by focusing on the border security and the immigration enforcement. Question remains whether the legal immigration bill can pass the Congress as separate from the Comprehensive Immigration Reform legislation. Guys...please stop this useless discussion of whether to give priority to US educated professionals Vs. Non-US education professionals. First of all, we are not the one who have decision power on this one. Secondly, it will make us weak by dividing on such matter. Andy Grove of Intel, Sergey Brin of Google, Vinodh Khosla of Sun Microsystems are excellent examples of people who migrated to the US for higher education and then went on to found billion-dollar companies that employs thousands of Americans.
Everyday pressures at work, paying for mortgage, taking care of children are challenges that every working American goes through. But little is known about the silent pain and anxiety of high-skilled, tax-paying, law-abiding doctors, engineers and scientists who have to constantly keep track of their position in the "queue" to obtain their permanent residency status, more commonly the 'green card', as a first step towards calling America their home. Sometimes, the wait in the line can last as long as ten years. The wait comes with several restrictions like being bound to the particular job position with the sponsoring employer for as many years, foregoing promotions and inability to change jobs at will � work conditions unimaginable for an average American employee.

The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicant should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. This will make sure that fraudulent applicants cannot port from EB3 to EB2.

Having an option to port PD when applying under alternate category is available, and people eligible taking advantage of this should be allowed to do it and encouraged. People with EB3 PD of 2001 or 2002 and waiting for GC might already have worked one or two years prior to starting the process and might be in country working for almost a decade and some even have done their Masters and have the experience. out of 45K members let's assume 22.5 K are EB2 and 22.5 K are EB3.
Even If 11.25K (EB2)+11.25K (EB3) = 22.5 K (Total) contributes $25 Each Problems gets solved ... but the catch is ....
Even 11.25 K EB2 members are not contributing because they don't have to as their problem is solved

ok. Assuming BILL pass during the lame-duck session... what is timeline for it take effect? I believe the president has to signed it and it take 90 days from that date to be effective? Experts?

I did not know it takes 90 days; that is too long a period of time. But nobody is hopeful of the bill getting passed during the lame-duck session.

Two weeks back, your priority was to file a law suite against porting from EB3 to EB2.
Now after seeing your own buddies get approval before you, you put the previous plan on hold (sure you have not dropped it) and working on the new item.
All we can do is to send letters to USCIS to expedite the process and give SunnySurya green card at the earliest.
So not only EB3 but EB2 also escape from new issues.

CIR is not going to happen, even if it happens there will be nothing for Employment Based Legal Immigration.
Any large immigration overhaul is not going to work in current economic climate.
And yes, you can not file a law suit for a law that we all were aware of while entering this country. No doubt those who are waiting for long time and are in the country for long time are in miserable condition but I don't think law suit is an option. But I certainly believe government is not aware of true picture of this situation.
I would like to take initiative and present the situation to senate and president's office. However I don't want to do this without approval of senior IV members. This would help those who are in country for long time and have been waiting for long time.

Let me answer that. I am from Fiji but I was born in India so I am stuck with rest of you and for my family going back is not an option. Fiji is very hostile to indians living there so for us it's here or nowhere. May be india is an option but we have very few distant relatives in India as both of our parents has passed away.
Though it is a big shock for me and my family, I have to get over it and think about their survival after me.
My apologies if I have given the impression as GC greedy but I can understand how difficult it is for someone to understand how is life without something you can call a "Home"
